Since the corona outbreak I’ve been struggling to rearrange my work days, thoughts and feelings. I’m having a hard time trying to create blog posts and getting stuff done as well as looking for ways to nurture the herd loving extraverted Nancy indoors. MAN!! Do I miss my 2 weekly handball practise and games, all the meetups I used to go and all the other things I love to do involving crowds. Luckily there is this stable factor in my life called Paul. He is my safe haven in times of stormy weather.
I thought it would be really cool to dedicate this blog to him, especially because we said YES and NO to each other on 18 March this year.
We met at DrupalCon London in 2011 and since we were both going through some difficult divorces that same year, I didn't think much of it at first. But that changed for the better in no time! Three months after we met, we were living together in The Hague, and we have been inseparable ever since. We’re convinced that we want to grow old together, so much so that we became civil partners but - and this is very important to us - did definitely not get married on March 18th!
We have this running gag that we ask each other NOT to marry every once in a while, preferably in crazy ways, like in front of a 1500 ppl audience at Drupalcon Amsterdam in 2014 :D As you can also see in this video from when we just met… (He hates me for sharing this one AGAIN!)
He’s warm-hearted, introverted and relaxed. He's a feminist, my partner-in-crime and the one who keeps me grounded when I’m being overenthousiastic and wandering away from the things I want to achieve in life. He keeps me sane during these weird times and above all: he believes in me. He's seen me at my lowest low after my dad passed and stuck with me.
He even took a week off last week, because I have a new client. He wanted to be there to support me during my first week, so I could focus on my work. Behind every Happy Scrum Master is a strong and supportive man. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me and I'm so not letting go of this one ;)
I love you Paul, to the moon and back xxx
Ps. BFG is a reference to a great book by Roald Dahl, look it up and you'll know what I mean :)
